The top water bite is on. Bass are hitting top waters, jigs, and spinnerbaits. Only a few on buzz baits. Night bite fishing is beginning to pick up. Crappie has slowed but is still good. Bobber and minnow 5 to 12 feet deep around downed trees and wood structure. Bluegill, redear, and sunfish are tying to make beds, but weather fronts and rain have slowed them down. Bluegill are being caught off bottom on nightcrawlers and bee moth near spawning grounds, just in a little bit deeper water. There has been a good bite for channel catfish. Nightcrawlers and chicken livers seem to be baits of choice. A few small flatheads on live baits.
